Three Brunet-García projects have won 2017 PRINT Regional Design Awards, the industry’s most prestigious and well-respected American design competition:

- 100 Plates: Brunet-García created an interactive storytelling installation aimed at raising awareness about the direct impact of hunger in Northeast Florida. The installation featured both an art and interactive piece that helped connect audiences to the cycle of food insecurity that many children face daily.
- Phase Eight identity: Brunet-García helped the boundary-pushing theatre company coin a new name and developed a visual identity that uses positive and negative space to effectively “stage” varied imagery with its logo mark, Phase Eight communicates its aim for outstanding theatrical instruction and innovation.
- Phase Eight poster series: A series of four posters illustrated the experimental nature of the works staged at the theater.

Brunet-García is the only agency in Jacksonville to win any Regional Design Awards. Eleven prizes went to organizations in Florida:
- Brunet-García: 3
- Ringling College Design Center in Sarasota: 3
- Anson-Stoner in Winter Park: 2
- CNP Agency in Winter Haven: 1
- SPARK in Tampa: 1
- Idgroup in Pensacola: 1
“We have a hungry creative team that possesses an interesting combination of freshness and maturity,” said Creative Director/VP Eduardo Sarmiento. “We are driven to create powerful work, and we have a great time while doing it—and that shows.”
High-profile judges obsessed and stressed over nearly 4,000 entries from all over the country and narrowed them down to 350 awards:
- South: 59
- East: 59
- New York City: 50
- Midwest: 62
- Southwest: 46
- Far West: 26
- Student awards: 48
Ellen Lupton judged the South region. As the curator of contemporary design at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City, and director of the Graphic Design MFA program at Maryland Institute College of Art, Lupton is surrounded by beauty every day.
“For me, a top-ranked project has to have some scale to it—some heft and reach and ambition,” Lupton told PRINT.
Thousands of art directors, studios, and creative professionals enter the Regional Design Awards every year. It’s also a place to find the country’s top talent. No matter where you live or what your experience level is, the Regional Design Awards collect the best design from every state across the United States.
The Regional Design Awards are published in a gallery on printmag.com and will appear in PRINT’s “365 Days of Design Inspiration,” a hardcover book showcasing the best from today’s leading art directors, studios, and creative professionals.
