Congratulations to our own Iwalani “Lani” Camacho, Senior Vice President of Media, on winning Adweek’s 2022 Media All-Star Award. With all of her hard work and dedication, it is no surprise she was chosen for such a prestigious award. Spearheading Brunet-García’s paid media team, she has been integral in the growth of media work for the agency, and clients, and has made a significant impact on the agency, while shattering expectations.
In its 37th year, the 2022 Adweek Media All-Stars Awards recognizes individuals who were able to deliver success for their clients, be innovative in their media usage, and portray original approaches to problem-solving. To be an All-Star is to be one of the industry’s best, brightest, and most strategic thinkers. This standard holds increased weight in an industry growing as rapidly as ours. Lani has demonstrated skills and techniques that translate to significant impacts in how our industry is continuing to evolve.
Lani summed up her reaction to the honor, offering, “When I first started in the industry 15 years ago, I would see the big bosses in these trade publications. I always thought to myself, one day, I would love to be there. Now that I have received this recognition, I can’t believe that today is that one day. It feels amazing and surreal to be recognized at this level.”
Her goals don’t stop here. Ever the selfless leader, continuing to further the development of the field is a driving force for Lani. “Continuing to work in media planning and buying and continuing to challenge myself in this space. I hope to continue to mentor others and help bring new media all-stars into the industry.” The legacy that she is creating can only improve from here.
“Lani is an absolute force,” added Kimberley Collins, Brunet-García’s EVP of Media and Engagement. “She has the absolute trust of every client she meets, offering efficient and innovative solutions to every media challenge and with every possible budget. Her passion, commitment, and dedication to our team, agency, and the work we do every day are an inspiration.”
Lani hopes to leverage this honor and platform to highlight the important and life-saving work we are doing at B|G.
With extensive previous experience from her years with Fox Broadcasting, she ended up in media advertising by a happy accident. Excelling to this degree is proof that some things are meant to be, but Lani says there is a secret to her success:
“It is important to love the work you do. There were times when I would be at my desk at one in the morning, overwhelmed, but I loved what I was doing, so it made it a bit more tolerable. It was important to me to work with clients that do work that really matters. It wasn’t until I moved to the D.C. area and worked on government accounts that I saw this.”
Not only does Lani succeed in the workplace, but she also volunteers with DECA by judging marketing and advertising campaigns and with her local Advertising Federation Chapter and a local food bank. She also enjoys family time and gym classes. Being able to show up and perform in each area makes Lani successful even beyond recognition, such as being a Media All-Star.
When asked what the most satisfying aspect of her job is, Lani replied, “Working with people who are as passionate about making the world a better place as I am.”
With dedication, hard work, and an outlook like that, it’s easy to see that Lani is genuinely deserving of her award.
Congratulations again, Lani; we’re happy to have someone as skilled and passionate as you here at B|G.
